Annie Van Hanken

Annie was born and raised in South Texas; moved to DC area for high school (Madeira School), Tulane University for undergrad (English/History double major with a minor in Classics), went to the University of Texas at Austin for Masters in Education. Annie taught pre-kindergarten to children with language delays and other developmental disabilities. She then moved to worked at Heart of Los Angeles Youth, an inner-city youth arts and education center doing program development and grant writing.  In 2002 she began work at George Kaiser Family Foundation, focusing her attention on early childhood education. Annie helped found Tulsa Educare in 2004 and serves as its board president. She also chairs the board of Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School, founded in 2012. Annie is a gubernatorial appointee to the Oklahoma Early Childhood Advisory Council.
